Video lessons Manager Certificate Frequently Asked Questions

What do users receive certificates for?

That’s really up to you. You can award them certificates manually for submitting coursework, you can also award them certificates for viewing all of the videos, lessons or for completely viewing a course.

The Quiz add-on

compliments the certificates add-on well by awarding users certificates when they have correctly answered a quiz following viewing video material.

How do users receive their certificates?

When they have completed the requirements to receive a certificate they will get an email with the certificate included. They can choose to download the certificate from the email as a PDF.

What file format does the Certificate come in?

The original email version of the certificate sent is a HTML email. This can be downloaded by the users in PDF file format.

Can I send a certificate for a certain video, lesson or course manually?

Yes, this is easily done with this add-on. You need to go into the video or lesson or course that you wish to award the certificate for and find the field labeled Generate certificate for user:, enter their email address and click the Download button.

Can I disable the feature that automatically sends the user a certificate after they complete a lesson?

Yes. If you’d prefer to you can disable this and do things manually.

By default this is disabled anyway so it’s really up to you to enable it in the first place to auto generate certificates for lessons.

Is it possible for me to modify the email that is sent to users for completing lessons or courses?

Yes it is, you can modify the template for the emails that are sent using either the visual editor or with HTML.

There are some placeholder shortcodes available to use that will inject relevant information such as the user’s name, the course name, lesson URL etc.
