There are many benefits to having online courses on your WordPress site, despite the growing number of video lessons options available in today’s market. Creating online courses yourself allows for more creative and financial control of the content.

The video online learning market is one of the most profitable industries across the globe, and it only increases exponentially from year to year. Websites like Udemy, Coursera and others are high-quality choices for online video courses, but they also have a cookie cutter format in content and pricing structure.

Why You Should Create Your Own Online Courses

Well-known websites like Udemy have excellent tools for creating content and organizing online courses in terms of layout, formatting, content style options, images, video and more. The downside comes from the fact that the platform takes a set cut of the earnings from the online courses.

Being in control of your online course content is important because you can make every decision about what content to present and how to do it. Another great reason is that tailoring your own online course content will also help you reach your preferred customer base.

Another key to creating online course content is having the right equipment. Make sure you do research and use the best tools for the content you want to create. Software, video equipment, and anything else you can find which can help with creating online courses is great, but it doesn’t need to be expensive.

When you decide to create online courses and content with a learning management system, your options are pretty nice. Creating content with WordPress is super user-friendly, cost-effective and visually appealing. There is one plugin in particular which can provide step by step help you create the content you want easily with tons of great features and details.

Another video service is Wistia, which is a brand affinity marketing software that turns passive viewers into loyal customers. Wistia allows you to create and upload videos and then generate leads and help share it to a relevant audience.

As one of the most popular dedicated Ecommerce platforms around, Magento has empowered many of the world’s major business-to-business (B2B) websites for years.

That’s because B2B interactions involve large and complicated ordering processes that require feature loaded frontend and backend system capabilities. Additionally, few other content management (CMS) platforms can compete with the virtually endless range of streamlined processes that Magento provides.

For some numbers: Over 1.2% of all websites on the internet, and 12% of all Ecommerce webstores, depend on the features Magento provides. That’s over 250,000 active sites in all (though interestingly, only 11,000 have upgraded to the modern version of Magento 2).

On top of that, studies show that Magento merchants grow their Ecommerce three times faster than webstores utilizing other CMS platforms. Recognizing these trends of success, between 2017 and 2018, adoption of Magento’s platform nearly doubled. Now that rate is expected to increase even further as we move forward into 2020.

But of course, simply using Magento by itself won’t guarantee B2B success. To achieve that, Magento webstore managers need to learn and master the ins-and-outs of its most valuable B2B features first.

With that said, here’s some key B2B features that all webstores must familiarize themselves with to enhance their Ecommerce performance.

    4 Essential Magento B2B Features

    1. Incentivizing Product Reviews

Did you know that 95% of surveyed online shoppers say they check online product and service reviews before making purchases? The same goes for B2B consumers as well.

If your products and services don’t have customer reviews attached to them, they’ll naturally appear much less trustworthy. In turn, many visitors to your product pages aren’t going to feel confident enough to engage with your webstore.

Keeping these facts in mind, the need for customer reviews becomes plainly apparent. To ensure you’re your own customers take the time to leave a review for your business, you need to incentivize.

Many organizations simply offer the chance for customers to enter a raffle by leaving a review, but in practice, this doesn’t appeal to everyone. However, nobody balks at the opportunity to make a cheaper purchase on the goods they desire. That’s why coupon codes are so very effective.

Getting customers to write customer reviews can be difficult. That’s why Product Review Incentive Extensions have been developed to serve as a perfect solution for B2B (and B2C) websites.

For instance, the extension above allows users to automatically send product review coupon incentives to customers after purchases are made. It includes customized email templates to effortlessly craft effective product review reminders and the ability to track overall coupon use.

Using these B2B features webstores will improve conversion rates, increase their user generated content, and earn credibility with customers.

    2. Optimizing User Experiences

There are countless extensions for Magento that are designed to ensure an optimized performance from customers.

For instance, to avoid any potential errors with the kinds of coupon incentives mentioned above, automate Coupon Code Error Messages. When coupon codes don’t work, customers get irritated, sales decrease, and customer service teams get bogged down. But an extension that creates, tracks, and displays custom coupon error messages when customers can’t apply their discounts will mitigate these effects.

Likewise, there are a range of other extensions that help ensure a smooth experience on the user’s end.

From allowing customers to ask product questions directly on product pages, to empowering better customer sales representative management and response times for stronger customer service, B2B features that supply intuitive and convenient experiences are a must for attracting, impressing, and retaining the attention of business customers.

    3. Enabling Multi-User Employee and Administrative Accounts

B2B operations are often massive, and as such, there are usually multiple users responsible for the upkeep of their websites.

However, Magento’s default version doesn’t have a way for multiple users and sub-accounts to operate under a master account. But with Multi User Account extensions, this essential B2B feature can be easily implemented and capitalized on.

From allocating unique user permissions to different website roles so every employee can perform the tasks they need, to enabling cross-account cart options, order viewing, and order approvals, these extensions give every employed user access to exactly what they need to succeed—and in the interest of security—nothing more. New users and roles can be added any time, and permissions and restrictions are customizable to meet each webstore’s needs.

Unless you plan on doing all the work of maintaining a B2B website alone or taking the unnecessary risk of allowing every employee to handle your webstore’s master account, a multi-user account extension is a must.

If webstores want to gain similar levels of management over their administrators as well, those B2B features are available too. There’s additional advanced permissions extensions that further expand the customization options of webstore administrative roles surrounding products, categories, and customers.

    4. Maximizing Product and Service Order Management

Editing order statuses, shipping methods, product listings, and order notes is a time-consuming job.

The processes required to perform these tasks in Magento’s default version are less than ideal, to say the least. For instance, rather than being able to edit an order, it must be deleted and replaced with an updated entry. That means Ecommerce websites must fill out a full new entry of data to change even the smallest order details.

But Magento edit order extensions are capable of providing simplified editing features to get things done quickly and efficiently. After all, the less time webstore managers and employees spend working with Magento’s roundabout default methods, the more time they have to devote to the tasks that matter most.

Extensions like the above let webstores quickly edit that information, and more, from one easy dashboard to maximize administrative workflows. They also include archives and tracking for all order changes over time to support invaluable data analysis efforts.

A B2B Features Power Bundle to Master Magento

CreativeMinds offers a combined power bundle that brings together coupon error management, multi-user accounts, and order editing B2B features in a single convenient package.

Together these features create better experiences for webstore managers and their clients, which fosters greater customer loyalty and revenue gains. Because at the end of the day, it’s inarguable that the ability to manage more effectively leads to better business.

Feel free to check out our bundle offering here, and receive 12-months of extension support free of charge!

Researching family history is hugely popular – it’s said to be the second most popular pastime in the US and many of those researchers have British roots. With centuries of historical data involved, research can be a daunting task. A British organization tackles the challenge and recently implemented the CreativeMinds Tooltip Glossary WordPress plugin to build a knowledge base.

    Family History Research

“We are a family history society – a not-for-profit organisation in the UK – and we are dedicated to helping our members research their family history wherever they or their ancestors are from,” explains Paul Barrett, webmaster of the Berkshire Family History Society website.

Tooltip Glossary Berkipedia Use Case banner

Glossary Entry created by Tooltip Glossary in the Berkshire Family History Society website

Founded in 1975, the charity provides a variety of services, including regular meetings around the county, events, an educational programme, a public research centre, transcribed documents, member-exclusive online content and online shop where customers can buy data CDs and books.

“We have amassed a large amount of data about families in the Historic County of Berkshire and this information is accessed by members all over the globe.”

    Updating The WordPress Site

Berkshire FHS already had an online presence, but the team knew it was time to update it. “It was 10 years old and in need of a refresh to bring it up to date with the web standards expected of modern sites.”

That meant more than updating the visuals: it was necessary to present the data in an organized, searchable and easy-to-navigate manner.

A simple list of items would not be enough: they had to be interconnected.

“We had various sets of data that needed cataloguing and it quickly became clear that the best way of presenting it was to use an online encyclopedia or wiki.”

    The “Berkipedia” Online Encyclopedia

“Berkipedia”, as the project is charmingly called, was about to take shape.

In order to handle the thousands of entries, the process had to be smart and scalable. “Doing the cross-referencing manually would have been an impossible task,” concludes Paul.

So the search for a suitable WordPress plugin started.

Creating The Glossary of Connected Terms

The webmasters tested a series of plugins, but they all lacked efficient ways to separate information into categories.

Tooltip Glossary Berkipedia Use Case 1 (1)

The site holds data in different categories

“Different types of data needed segregating so that, for example, the town of Abingdon could be distinguished from the Abingdon Union, and Tooltips handles that well. Other plugins could not do that …” explains Paul, “… the entries were jumbled together.”

The Tooltip plugin creates unique pages for each term, which can be categorized. “The Historic County of Berkshire is sub-divided into Unions, containing civil and ecclesiastical parishes, places, churches, burial grounds and memorials – and then, of course, there are the people, so many people.” The site uses specific glossaries for each category. Links between terms are also automatic, which boosts SEO.

“Tag the individual churches with the parish names and the cross-referencing is done automatically. The three-way relationship with the Unions is automatic too.”

It’s still early days but the project has been a success, and Paul also mentions the CreativeMinds team as part of the process. “Support has been fantastic and has helped us enormously through our implementation. Response is quick and helpful.”

Finally, he also provides a tip, for new users: “There’s so much functionality that I often get lost in the settings screens! It’s tempting to enable features without fully understanding how they interact. Start simple and add the bells and whistles when you have mastered the basics.”

Most people that use the Internet are familiar with Google Maps, which is much more than just a well-known map application. Google Maps is an online service that provides very detailed geographical information for areas all around the world. The maps offer both satellite and aerial views in addition to conventional road maps.

In big cities and more populated areas, Google Maps even provides a street view for people, which they can view as if they were standing on that street, as well as move up or down, or left or right in the surrounding area. This is due to a bunch of photographs taken from a vehicle of the area and uploaded.

In addition to maps, Google Maps also allows for route planning with bikes, buses, cars or even walking distances for anyone who wants to map out a trip from point A to point B. Google Maps can also be embedded on business websites so customers can more easily find their brick and mortar stores or where their products or services are located.

One of the most popular features of Google Maps is its location services, which is when motorists use Google Maps on their mobile devices as well as GPS and wireless networks to travel to different places.

Google Maps can also be used with WordPress, to accurately display maps of locations for businesses, share location data, and much more. There are many different WordPress Google Maps plugins, but many of them have different features available and have varying price points.

    Google Maps Locations WordPress Plugin

The Google Maps Multiple Locations and Store Locator WordPress Plugin allows users to manage locations and supports a store locator finder using Google Maps. Admin can include location description, zip search, customized markers, tooltip support and images for each individual location.

The Google Maps Multiple Locations Plugin allows for every location place to have its individual page with fully detailed information and images. All markers can be fully customized, and maps can easily be embedded into all pages or posts using a simple shortcode.

This plugin from CreativeMinds is $29 for one website and $59 for up to five websites. This Google Maps location plugin also has extensive support and documentation, as well as several helpful addons.

    CM Map Locations
    Map Locations and Store Locator
This plugin lets users manage locations and supports location finder using Google Maps. Each individual location includes description, points of interest and images. Build a wordpress business location directory to support your business mapping requirements.
    [ Video] [ Userguide]

What You Can Do With a Plugin

In the case of the Google Maps Multiple Locations Plugin, you can:

    • Mapping – Use Google Maps and Google Maps integration to navigate to add your location.
    • Google Maps

    • Customize the Map – Reveal an interactive map with fully customized icons for all locations.
    • Google Maps

    • Store Locator Solution – Use the custom map to create store map for a specific area.
    • Advanced Search Options – Search map locations by keyword, category, address or even by distance using zip codes for multiple locations.

How To Show Maps of Locations With WordPress

To integrate Google Maps on your WordPress website, you will need several API keys. For accurate map locations, admin will need a JavaScript API, Geolocation API, Geocoding API, and a Places API.

Go to the WordPress dashboard, and navigate to the plugin settings on the WordPress dashboard. Under the General tab, there is a box with a link to get the Google Maps API key. Open a new tab and navigate to the Google Developer’s webpage and make sure to login to your Google account.

    Google Maps

Next, find the project you want to use or create a new one. Then navigate to the API’s and Services dashboard on the left to search through the API library. Use the search bar at the top to find the APIs that you need.

    Google Maps

Click on the API that you want and then click on the blue “ENABLE” button. Then repeat this search and enable process with all of the APIs that you need. After the APIs have been enabled, navigate to the Credentials tab. Your API key will be right there for you to copy and paste into your WordPress plugin settings.

    Google Maps

There is also a chance that there is a problem with the API key, but the good news is that this is also an easy fix. You will know there is a problem if you encounter a Google Map with “For development purposes only” all over it.

    Google Maps

To overcome this, it’s important to check out why. There may be a billing issue, where the billing is invalid or it has been enabled. Having billing information on file has been a requirement for anyone using the Places API since July 2018.

Most services are available for free with limited use, although there is a tiered pricing system. The usage limit of the Google Map you are accessing may be exceeded as well. If there is still a problem with the API key, you should redo the steps for installing or contact support.

    Conclusion

Having Google Maps enabled on your WordPress website is a huge advantage to attracting more customers both locally and digitally. Having map locations including custom location markers for each store, store location information, descriptions, images, feedback and more will visually improve your website and successfully alter your search engine ranking.

Enabling Google Maps on your WordPress website is also a simple process. The key factor here is to have the correct API keys enabled, so your WordPress website can access the information it needs from Google Maps to properly display location information.

The Google Maps Multiple Locations plugin from CreativeMinds has many useful features for displaying locations on a map and including detailed information for potential customers. This locations plugin easily integrates with Google Maps and there is also extensive documentation for installation and usage.

To create a top-rate Ecommerce business with Magento, you need to ensure that the visitors to your website have a well-designed, high-performance, experience when browsing and engaging with your products and services.

But unless you’re a web developer, getting all the many facets that go into getting a Magento webstore to operate smoothly together won’t be possible, and many of the more complex features that make Magento’s platform so popular are going to be out of reach.

Even with the help of handy Magento extensions, implementing and keeping them updated still takes some notable back-end tweaking.

That’s where Magento developers come into play.

Unless they are willing to take the time and effort to learn some development skills, successful webstore managers are going to want to work with Magento developers. Before we go into some of the best places they can be found, let’s clear up the main reasons why these experts shouldn’t be ignored.

Why Hire a Magento Developer in the First Place?

Image of a hand grabbing a green silhouette from a line, representing the hiring of Magento developers

As powerful and versatile as Magento is as a platform, it’s also a complex platform that requires deep technical knowhow. Not everyone can code and design a website, but hiring a professional Magento developer virtually guarantees that your entire website will operate smoothly.

From the themes and extensions you choose to have implemented, to the custom features and modifications your website needs to best cater to its visitors, Magento developers are experts in making sure all the code involved runs seamlessly to keep your website’s performance at its peak.

But the advantages don’t end there.

    1. Save Valuable Time on Website Maintenance and Development

There are a lot of guides on how to navigate the ins-and-outs of Magento, and with time and patience, anyone can learn how to manage their website.

But this requires dozens upon dozens of hours in terms of research, plus the actual work of upkeeping a website.

With a professional, all the complicated coding and compatibility concerns are taken out of your hands, leaving you more time to focus on the bigger picture.

    2. An Opportunity for Hands-on Guidance

Image of two silhouettes, one with a watering can head that waters the other, who has a plant for a head

The endless capabilities Magento provides can make the platform seem pretty intimidating, especially for new users.

But working with a Magento developer gives you a prime opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the platform. If you maintain an ongoing relationship with your developer after launch, you’ll also gain easy access to on-demand technical support.

    3. Guarantee Enhanced Security

Online threats to webstores plague Magento users every day, but most all of these cases are due to poor security practices.

Lacking user roles, dangerously out-of-date software, and a general lack of good security measures can be detrimental to a website. But good Magento developer can help point out and close-up security vulnerabilities to keep your website safe.

Where to Find a Magento Developer?

Picture of a telescope overlooking a bay

The benefits that a Magento developer is capable of bringing you are only as good as their own personal capabilities.

Because of this, it’s critical to find trustworthy developers from trustworthy places. Even more importantly, you need to be able to inspect whether they can deliver the quality your Magento website need.

That said, here are four of the most popular and reliable places to find a Magento developer.

    1. Upwork

Upwork is a premier place to find short-term and long-term freelancers to support your website.

It’s one of the most popular hiring platforms online, provides contract protection for clients and workers, and helps foster connections. It gives clients a list of candidates that fit the bill for your job after submitting a job proposal. Better yet, it’s a popular place for Magento developers to solicit their services, meaning there’s tons to choose between.

Lastly, posting jobs and meeting freelancers through the platform’s basic membership plan requires no charge. But, important to note, that the website does take a notable fee for all work coordinated through its platform. This is especially true for work relationships that are just starting out.

    Monthly Magento Store Support Packages
    Monthly Magento Support Packages
Magento extensions updates, routine maintenance, Magento version updates, security audit, help desk support, optimization. In addition defined hours of monthly support for consulting, online training, bug fixes, graphic design support, integration and other enhancements and modifications.

    2. Freelancer

Speaking of freelancers, Freelancer.com is another common platform where clients and remote workers meet every day. So, to broaden their search and get a larger idea of the variety of Magento developers out there, freelance-seeking website managers may want to search between both platforms.

Like Upwork, this website includes employee verification, escrow, and other protections to ensure that projects go smoothly for everyone involved. Additionally, the many freelancers registered on the platform can be searched through personally, or open jobs can be posted publicly.

Also like Upwork, every arrangement between freelancers and clients involves fees paid by both parties to the website.

    3. LinkedIn

One of the longest standing social media platforms around, and themed entirely around hiring employees, LinekdIn houses many Magento developers.

LinkedIn profiles are considered more professional than typical social media pages, and everyone from CEOs to freelancers market themselves there.

However, while searching the website keep in mind that many Magento developers might be listed under more broad job descriptions. Because of this, try seeking and reaching out to profiles that list Magento as a prominent skill of theirs. To be more assured of their capabilities, see whether that skill has been endorsed by others familiar with the platform.

    4. Working with Dedicated Developer Websites

Cartoon image of a web developer working at a laptop, with a backsplash of the code he works on

Lastly, a favorite surefire way to find an incredible Magento developer is by searching for dedicated services on developer websites.

A quick search will pull up an endless range of websites that allow you to hire expert developers for all your Magento needs.

Custom Hourly Support Package for Magento
    Magento Custom Hourly Support
Purchase any number of hours of support services or a-la-carte service for your Magento store and receive help from a Magento Certified Developer. This can cover extension installations, components adjustments, or module development.

For instance, our own Magento development support services include performance upkeep, extension installations, consulting and available hourly support—plus the option for monthly support packages to make sure your online business always remains in top form. And of course, there are countless other developer websites that can be easily found and perused as well.

Of course, just like when checking for the quality of a freelancer, its important to vet the services you browse. Be sure to check for reviews and stories about the support services offered to previous customers on pages like this.

Google Analytics is a powerful tool that allows users to monitor their WordPress website traffic and gain valuable business insights.

First launched in 2005, the software has since become the most popular analytics tool online businesses depend upon.

In fact, according to BuiltWith, Google Analytics is active on over 27.7 million websites to date. Though with its customizable range of features and the higher website performances it consistently delivers, there’s no question as to why.

As such, many new website administrators—as well as those looking to improve their online performance—will want to pair Google Analytics with their WordPress website before conducting any further online operations.

However, since WordPress doesn’t come with Google Analytics installed by default, some steps are required to use these platforms together.

Quick tip: if you prefer letting specialists take care of the process for you, consider getting in touch with us and feel at ease! Learn more.

A Closer look at what Google Analytics does

You might wonder whether its worth going through the trouble of installing Google Analytics on WordPress in the first place.

Regardless of a website’s industry, Google Analytics supplies the information administrators need to gain a deeper understanding of their customers. That way, they can cater user experiences to satisfy their unique visitor types and inspire stronger returns from their activity.

In a Nutshell: Google Analytics can show how people are interacting with your web pages, the amount of time they spend on any given area, and how they found your business in the first place.

It provides detailed reports on user behavior and includes a dashboard that can connect to additional systems that better measure your customer relationship management (CRM) efforts, the points of sale in your marketing funnels, and other trackable indicators that influence your business’ growth.

Furthermore, Google Analytics offers machine learning capabilities that help determine which of your customers are most likely to take action, and which of them present the highest revenue opportunities. It also has a configurable application programing interface (API) to allow users flexibility, and offers built-in technical support to maximize your data analysis efforts.

In other words, this is a powerful feature-packed tool that no growth-bound website should fail to consider. Since Google Analytics is free to use, there’s really no reason to do so either.

Methods to Install Google Analytics on a WordPress Website

There are a couple ways to bring Google Analytics into your WordPress site.

You can either use a plugin, or manually install the two together, and there are benefits to both methods. The option that will work best for you comes down to your website’s needs, and your own personal preferences.

Manually Install Google Analytics onto WordPress

Since Google Analytics is already free to use, manually adding it to your WordPress website won’t cost you anything.

It’s a relatively simple process too. However, it’ll require you to edit your website’s code, meaning the smallest error could cause your entire website to malfunction. So, before getting started, be sure to backup your website just in case something unexpected happens during the process.

    1. Find your Website’s Google Analytics Tracking Code

In case you don’t have a Google Analytics account with your website’s information setup , you’ll need to sign-up first. To do so, simply click “sign-up” on this webpage and follow the instructions.

Once logged into your Analytics account, select your website and then navigate to the Admin gearbox in the left taskbar of your page.

Next, go to the Property Settings column, select Tracking Info from the drop-down list, and then select Tracking Code. Once done your website’s tracking code should appear in a textbox below, and you can easily copy it from there.

    2. Enter the Tracking Code into your WordPress Website’s header.php file

With your tracking code copied to your clipboard, log back into your WordPress dashboard.

Once there, navigate to Appearance on the left side of your dashboard and select Editor from the list. Then, under the Templates menu on the right side of the screen, click the Theme Header “header.php” to bring up another box of code.

Now just paste the Google Analytics tracking code you copied in the previous step before the
closing at the end of the code box—and save your changes by clicking Update File.

Afterward, Google Analytics should successfully run with your WordPress website, and all without requiring the added use of a plugin.

Using Plugins to Install Google Analytics to WordPress

Image of a lightbulb turned on

That’s not to say plugins are bad by any right. In fact, they’re usually the superior option in almost all cases.

This is because, while most good plugins are going to cost you something, many simplify the process of installing Google Analytics to WordPress—and at the same time—come with additional features that allow you to get the most out your website’s monitoring and analysis efforts. Additionally, many plugins offer free trial periods that allow users to see how their features can enhance their business for themselves.

There are many great plugins which do all this available online, though they do vary from each other in performance. For more on plugins, and how to pick one that meets the needs of your website, here’s a quick guide.

But even if you choose to install and enhance Google Analytics with a plugin, it won’t take care of everything. You’ll still need to create an account with Google Analytics and link your website’s information to it first.

Afterward, once logged back into WordPress, whichever plugin you choose should guide your Google Analytics installation through a few easy clicks.
