How to make the language learning process easier for students? Find out it in the story of English teacher Humberto Mancuso.
Private Language Training
Humberto Mancuso is an English teacher who helps business people improve their presentation, speaking and writing skills. He also prepares managers to join international events or to host foreign visitors.
Humbertos site hmancuso.com serves as an educational platform for his students. This is what Humberto says about his project:
“It is a rich collection of texts, reference materials, exercises, and online games that support language learning by providing them with the depth of information they want and a user experience that encourages them to continue using these online resources.”
When Humberto founded his project, he decided that instead of sending downloadable materials to students, it would be much better to build an easily accessible online knowledge base:
“Rather than relying on PDF materials sent via email, I thought my students would benefit more from a richer online experience that they could carry in their pocket and use anytime – free from geographic and time constraints”.
Building a Vocabulary Knowledge Base
When it came to creating a vocabulary database, Humberto was looking for a dictionary plugin which was highly-customizable and flexible enough to suit his needs. Then he found the CM Tooltip Glossary that could support the growing vocabulary size and complexity.
This is how Humberto describes his experience of using the CM Tooltip Glossary plugin:
“CM Tooltip Glossary makes my life easier because it has evolved into a reliable database of thousands of words and phrases. This robust tool contains a business corpus that meets the needs of my students and is aligned with middle and upper management roles. Lesson preparation now has a good head start because the glossary is fine-tuned each time I add new material to the database.”
Here’s how tooltips look like on his site:
The search tool on the main glossary page was replaced with a similar tool for searching glossary entries, texts, exercises, videos, and other content that might be relevant to the user:
Glossary term pages were extended by adding a search and contact forms:
The vocabulary knowledge base is classified into different categories, which are available according to the student profile and curriculum.
As a result, we can see a perfectly implemented and designed multiple glossaries functionality.
Responsive Support Team
Humberto highly evaluates the work of the support team:
“A tool is only as good as the support team behind it. In this regard, the commitment of the CM Tooltip Glossary team to provide fast and quality services is simply impressive. I have used the support on several occasions and have always had a positive experience.”
Humberto started with the basic plugin version, and as his needs became more complex, he upgraded the subscription plan to a higher version. Constant improvements and updates of the plugin are also very valuable for Humberto:
“It’s always great to see that CreativeMinds offers much more than one shoe to fit all needs. Big kudos to all!”
